Quickdraw Animation Society and the Youth Animation Project with ArtCity are
proud to present Animator in Residence: Ryan Sluggett. Sluggett has exhibited
his paintings, sculptures and animations across Canada
since 2003. Ryan's work has been included in the 2007 Montreal Biennale, at the
CAG Vancouver, and at ARCO solo space 2008, Spain .
Developing an interest in animation at a young age through Quickdraw Animation’s
Quick-kids program, Sluggett returns to Quickdraw to mentor participants of the
Youth Animation Project, and to create a new short animated work based around a
fragment of a short story by Franz Kafka. During his production residency at
Quickdraw, Sluggett will be leading YAP participants through
an exploration of animation through pictoral space, and will be presenting the
fruits of his labour at the ArtCity Gala, September 5th at the
Calgary Opera Centre. Public are welcome to visit Quickdraw during Ryan’s
residency August 27-September 10th, and to attend a Free Artist
talk, 6:00 pm, September 10 @ Quickdraw.
